The fans
Its supporters live «americanismo» as an identity: they are among the most numerous in the country, and the club also has a reputation as the most hated, something its fans embrace proudly with the motto «Ódiame más» (Hate me more). Its great rival is Guadalajara, with whom it plays the Clásico Nacional, the biggest match in Mexican football. In the capital it contests the Clásico Capitalino against Pumas, which caught fire in 1969 when Enrique Borja moved to América, and the Clásico Joven against Cruz Azul, a rivalry born in 1972.
