América's home shirt for the 1976-77 season, when the club marked 60 years since its founding on 12 October 1916. In the league it finished top of its group but went out in the group stage of the liguilla. That campaign it also won the 1977 CONCACAF Champions' Cup, whose final against Robin Hood of Suriname was played in January 1978.
