The Olympiastadion was built for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich's Olympiapark, with its famous tent-like roof designed by Günter Behnisch's practice with Frei Otto. It was Bayern's home for 33 years, from 1972 to 2005: the club christened it on 28 June 1972 with a 5-1 win over Schalke and said goodbye on 14 May 2005 with a 6-3 win over Nuremberg. It was the stage for the era of three straight European Cups and for the great teams of the eighties and nineties. It also hosted the 1974 World Cup final and Euro 1988.
