Adidas home shirt with very thin red and white stripes on the front and sleeves, but with a completely red back, a design heavily criticised by supporters. It carried Dafabet on the chest. It was the season of the second consecutive relegation: Sunderland finished bottom (24th) of the Championship and dropped to League One, and went out in the third round of both the FA Cup and the League Cup.
