First adidas shirt after the exclusive deal signed with the JFA in April 1999, which ended the rotation of brands. Japan wore it at the 1999 Copa América in Paraguay, their first appearance as a guest, where they went out in the group stage; the women's team also wore it at the 1999 World Cup.
