The fans
Its supporters identify with the nickname «Chivas» (goats), which was born in 1948 as a taunt from Atlas fans and ended up being adopted with pride. The great derby is against América, the «Clásico Nacional» or Súper Clásico, which pits the Rebaño's all-Mexican identity against the club from the capital. In its own city it plays the Clásico Tapatío against Atlas, one of the oldest derbies in the country. Its nickname «Campeonísimo» is also fondly remembered, linked by the fans to the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s.
