Newton Heath moved in 1893 to Bank Street, in Clayton, a ground next to chemical works and railway lines whose pitch drew many complaints. There the club was renamed Manchester United in 1902 and won its first league title, in the 1907-08 season. Its last match, on January 22, 1910, was a 5-0 thrashing of Tottenham in front of just 5,000 spectators, and days later a storm brought down the main stand.
