After the 1962 World Cup, Jorge Toro left Colo-Colo to join Sampdoria, and the Chilean club began using as its alternative a shirt in the colours of the Genoa side, which according to the press was a gift from Toro himself. That year Colo-Colo finished third in the Primera División.
