Topper shirt known as “la de los diablitos” (the little devils one), after the devil printed tone-on-tone on the front. It marked the switch from adidas to Topper. Independiente finished 7th in the Apertura 1997 and 11th in the Clausura 1998, and went out in the group stage of the 1997 Supercopa.
