Home shirt with blue and black vertical stripes, the nerazzurri colors the club has worn since 1920. Atalanta started the season as reigning Coppa Italia holders, having won it on June 2, 1963, against Torino (3-1 in Milan). In 1963-64 they finished eighth in Serie A with 30 points, fell to Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals and bowed out of the Cup Winners' Cup in the first round against Sporting CP after a play-off match.
